Long Shot

My interpretation of a long shot is when the subject(s) are in full view i.e from head to toe but since the scene is shot from a greater distance, a (large) section of the set is shown in its detail and as a result the subjects appear smaller in size as compared to the setting, and to themselves in a medium shot or close up.

The long shot used in this scene highlights a western 'style' duel between the doctor and another character this is possibly used to mimic the ways in which these western scenes where traditionally shot, or to show off to the views a section of the set. The effect this has on the subject(s) is that in their apparent diminished size, we are able to view more of the set and scene and as a result the drama and western styled nature of this specific scene is highlighted and emphasised.
