Aerial Shot

My interpretation of an aerial shot is when the scene is shot overhead, i.e looking directly down on the subject(s) similar to a security camera.

I think this technique has been used to give the audience an overhead view of the action, by making it easier to see the cast running across the ground beneath. It also may have been used to allow the audience to view both areas, a large wall in the centre prevents both areas from being visible when using a different technique. The effect this has on the characters is that the audience are able to clearly gauge the speed and distance the are moving, which in turn increases the dramatic nature of the scene.
